Mechanical Seals Mechanical Seals

These Carbon Graphite Seal Rings are designed for aircraft engines and gas turbines where lubrication is limited. Made from specially impregnated graphite, the seals are self-lubricating with a very low friction coefficient. No external oil is needed, ensuring reliable performance in oil-free environments. Precision grinding achieves face flatness ≤0.001 mm and inner hole roundness ≤0.002 mm.

Key Advantages

1. No Rubber Parts, No Aging

Our Mechanical Seals are designed for aircraft engine accessory gearboxes. They feature a fully metal, non-contacting design-no O-rings or traditional springs. The one-piece bellows, made of Inconel 718, is welded to a flange to push the rotating ring. The rotating ring is silicon carbide, and the stationary ring is carbon graphite with precision laser-machined logarithmic spiral grooves only 3–5 microns deep. This eliminates rubber aging concerns entirely.

2. Non-Contact Operation for Minimal Wear

The spiral grooves pump media into the interface, creating a 0.5–1.5 micron thick gas-liquid film. This separates the rotating and stationary rings, achieving non-contact operation. Friction and wear are effectively eliminated. Leakage is extremely low: ≤0.8 g/h for aviation kerosene at room temperature.

3. High Temperature and Shock Resistance

Built-in anti-twist limiters in the bellows prevent instability during engine start and stop. The seals operate continuously at 650°C, withstanding peak temperatures up to 750°C. They support high-speed operation up to 35,000 r/min and pressure differences up to 3.0 MPa.
